Running with Purpose: The rcs Run Club’s Bluenose Relay Journey

For the past two years, the rcs Run Club has met informally on Thursdays, with coworkers gathering for lunchtime walks and jogs. Through a supportive group chat, members hold each other accountable—and rain or shine, you can always spot a few of them out on the trails around Bedford.

In 2025, the group took things up a notch. One member pitched the idea of entering a team in the Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon’s Medavie Blue Nose Marathon Strides for Mental Health Relay (formerly the Strum Relay). A team of eight quickly came together, setting enthusiastic goals for the spring.

Made up of runners, joggers, and walkers of all levels, the rcs relay team chose to support the Canadian Mental Health Association – Nova Scotia Division as the beneficiary of their fundraising efforts. Their mission was clear: to promote mental wellness, celebrate openness and conversation, and champion acceptance through the shared joy of sport and community.

Their efforts have already made an impact. The team launched their fundraising campaign in early February with an internal office drive, raising $1,140. A bottle drive, running through the end of April, continues to build momentum. As of mid-May, the team has raised an impressive $3,595—surpassing their original goal of $3,000.

We’re incredibly proud of the rcs Run Club for turning their passion into purpose and supporting mental health initiatives in Nova Scotia.
