Doug Doucet is very much a “hands on” leader, handling overall corporate planning, development and management for rcs construction. His focus has always been on satisfying client needs with an emphasis on project delivery. He works hard to nurture existing client relationships and develop new contacts for future opportunities.
Counted among Doug’s greatest achievements is his dedication to the community and giving back; he sits on many boards and is an active committee member.
Doug’s hard-working nature; vision for the future; open door policy; and approachable nature make him an excellent CEO and an inspirational leader.

Now with 10 years of commercial construction experience, paired with 15 years in the public sector (DAL & IWK Health Centre) exposed to construction from a client’s perspective, Chris is involved in all aspects of the business; estimating to assisting with proposals to client relations and being ultimately responsible for finance and risk management.
Currently, he holds the position of Chief Financial Officer for rcs and a multitude of related businesses.
Chris is the Integrator of rcs’ Leadership Team; helping to keep the team on task and accountable for the priorities at hand in efforts of supporting staff and clients alike.
Chris is an integral part of rcs as a leader, a reliable colleague and trusted advisor. When not at the office, he can be found on the golf course or power walking around downtown Halifax with Sarah and their “purse dog”, as some co-workers refer to her, Pepper!
With over 15 years of commercial construction experience and his Professional, Gold Seal certified designation, Andrew lives, breathes, and embodies rcs culture.
Currently, he holds the position of Director of Construction for NS overseeing construction efforts in the province and all business operations.
Andrew is part of the company’s Leadership Team, contributing to overall strategic planning and operational efficiency. Andrew currently sits on multiple boards, including NS Mental Health Foundation and The Construction Association of Nova Scotia.
Andrew is an excellent asset to rcs and a budding leader in the construction industry and his community. He also is a Master of Canned Mushroom Soup Cooking!
Dena is a well-rounded HR professional demonstrating leadership in full cycle human resource management. Both university and college educated, and a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) with over 25 years of progressive work experience working in several industries, Dena focused her career on human resources in 2009 and is a self-starter using exceptional communication and active listening skills while promoting effective negotiation and best-case solutions.
Overseeing HR, Payroll and Safety, as well as being a member of rcs’ Leadership Team, Dena can be found fast-walking through the hallways of any of our office locations, or chatting up our job site teams.
With uncontrollable laughter whenever she makes a funny mistake (when some would die of embarrassment), Dena can’t help but share so everyone can get a good laugh!
Brendan is a construction professional with a background encompassing all facets of the construction industry. A graduate of Mt. A. and NSCC, Brendan is a Gold Seal Certified Project Manager and Estimator. Brendan also holds a Certificate of Management for Lean Construction from the AGC of America.
With almost 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, Brendan has worked at all levels of the project team. In his role as Director of Major Projects, Brendan is responsible for overseeing site personnel and budgeting of multi-million-dollar construction projects, all while ensuring client satisfaction. In addition, Brendan is a member of the rcs Leadership Team contributing to overall strategic planning and development.
Brendan is incoming Chair of the Canadian Construction Association in addition to being a volunteer coach in youth sports.
Owen is a construction professional with a wide background in the construction industry. A graduate of NBCC with a specialization in Construction Management, Owen began his construction career in 2004.
His primary responsibilities on major projects consisted of coordinating preliminary site research, through to the coordinating of construction with owners, right to final inspection and everything in between. His experience gives him a 360-degree perspective when it comes to building projects.
Since starting with rcs in 2011 as a Senior Project Manager, Owen has continued to bring an experienced practical, yet technical common-sense approach to every project. He is extremely dedicated to the overall success of all of his projects, and to the needs of rcs construction’s customers and clients.
When not at work, Owen can be found in nature either hunting or fishing!
Patricia is an administrative professional with a background encompassing all facets of Administration. She started her career with the Halifax YWCA, and for 20+ years Patricia held many positions throughout.
Driven and energetic while still working at the Halifax YWCA Patricia held positions at the Greater Halifax Partnership as Investor Relations & Financial Coordinator and Event Planning Coordinator. Prior to coming to rcs, Patricia worked for McInnes Cooper and held the positions of Executive Assistant to the COO, and Finance Coordinator. With 30+ years’ experience, Patricia has a proven aptitude for managerial positions, she is well-versed in managing human and fiscal resources, event planning and office operations.
As Executive Assistant to the President, Patricia is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the President, administrative training and office & event management.
Patricia used to teach figure skating and loves to spend time traveling with her kids!
Sonya joined the team at rcs in 2019, taking on the newly created position of Controller.
A graduate of the DAL Commerce program, Sonya went on to earn the CPA designation in 2005.
While working in Property Management, she got a taste of Development/Construction, and jumped at the opportunity to join the team at rcs!
As Controller, Sonya is responsible for financial reporting for rcs as well as several other related businesses.
When not at the office, Sonya can be found in a Hockey rink cheering on one of her sons, who are both goaltenders. She also volunteers as the VP of Finance for their local hockey association. Her boys’ love of the game recently inspired this Hockey Mom Extraordinaire to lace up her skates and learn to play too!
Tonya has been with rcs from just about the beginning. With just over 24 years on the job, Tonya has seen the growth firsthand. She has dabbled in all areas of the company finding her niche in finance.
Currently, she holds the position of Financial Manager responsible for accounts receivable, collections and overseeing accounts payable. Tonya is our guru of the Jonas system. She will be the one to help solve any problems when it comes to project costing and vendor relations.
Tonya is a great asset with her knowledge and experience to the rcs team. Her infectious laugh can often be heard throughout the office which makes others feel good too. Tonya is a soccer mom at heart, loves her doodle, Lexi and enjoys date nights and fine wine.
Ashley is rcs’ Safety Manager with over 7 years’ experience in construction safety.
Ashley took an interest in safety in the final year of her Degree at Saint Mary’s University. She continued her education to pursue Safety through the Occupational Health and Safety Program at Nova Scotia Community College.
After Ashley’s brother was injured in a workplace incident, she knew she wanted to dedicate her career to preventing injury.
An accomplished Safety professional, Ashley has earned her Construction Safety Supervisor Certificate and her Gold Seal Certification.
Ashley is actively visiting job sites all over the Atlantic region and she believes in educating and mentoring.
Ashley is a HUGE animal lover. Her best friend is a 5-year-old westie named Lily.
As an honors graduate from the AET program at NSCC in 2012, rcs welcomed Michael as an Estimator.
Soon after joining rcs, Michael realized that this was the perfect position and company for him! With just over 9 years’ experience in Estimating, Mike has taken over the interim supervising of the NS and NL Estimating departments.
Sole enforcer of rcs Blue Shirt Wednesday, Michael enjoys walking the mean streets of the rcs office and complimenting others on their Blue Shirt finesse, or lack thereof. Retired professional casino dealer/dream-crusher.
Nick grew up living and breathing construction, spending his evenings and weekends working with his father and brothers building houses. After graduating from Saint Mary’s University, Nick joined rcs to continue growing his construction knowledge moving on from residential to commercial construction.
Nick has been with rcs for over 10 years and is now a Senior Project Manager, handling projects of all types, sizes and complexity. To continue expanding in his role Nick has gained his Gold Seal Certification in Project Management, graduated from the Executive Certificate in Construction Leadership program by Dalhousie University, and has just started in the Strategic Executives Program from the Wallace McCain Institute.
When he is not focused on construction Nick is a big basketball guy. He has played, refereed, coached and loves watching the Raptors!
Heidi started her construction career 26 years ago as an Administrative Assistant for WHW Architects, working alongside her father and uncle. Once she got a taste of the industry, she knew she wanted to learn more and decided to return to school completing the Architectural Engineering Technology program at NSCC.
Prior to joining rcs as a Project Manager, Heidi gained valuable experience over the years in the fields of Architecture, Civil Engineering and a Natural Gas Utility Company. She has worked on a variety of residential, commercial and industrial projects and over that time has come to appreciate the complexity of the construction industry.
When not playing soccer, watching hockey or preparing a “To-Do List” for her husband, Heidi can be frequently seen at a Tim’s drive thru or shopping at Winners/Marshals with her mom and daughters.
Having been born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Adam focused on keeping his learning in the east coast of Canada. He attended Mount Allison University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies, and completed the Energy Sustainability Engineering Technology diploma program offered by NSCC.
Before joining the rcs team in 2018, Adam spent six years in the consulting field with a primary focus of mechanical engineering and project management. During this time, Adam obtained his Certified Engineering Technologist professional designation and worked on a number of medium to large scale construction projects.
A greater understanding of renewable energy technologies, construction management, and building sciences, coupled with his education and experiences, allows Adam to bring his motivations to Nova Scotia’s construction and design sector, and influence educated building practices.
Outside of life at rcs, Adam is a proud father of three young boys so his spare time is limited. Invite him out, we’re sure he’ll jump at the opportunity!
Matt grew up and attended high school in Dartmouth, NS. His first experience within the construction industry was as an apprentice electrician after graduating from the Electrical Construction program at NSCC in 2010.
After a short stint in the military working as an electrician, he went back to NSCC and completed the Construction Management Technology program, graduating in 2018. His first commercial management experience was working as a coordinator at the Nova Centre with the Major Projects team at rcs.
Matt has always had a passion for sports such as hockey and football and is often cheering on his childhood hockey team the Colorado Avalanche. He spends his pastime either at the gym during the winter months and biking (mountain biking) during the summer months.
Ian has been with rcs for over five years working on projects of varying size and scope and in all stages of construction and planning, from estimating to completion on new and existing builds.
He looks forward to continuing learning and excelling at his position and is dedicated to the overall success and business needs of rcs and, most importantly, our clients.
Ian can be found on the golf course when the weather is nice, and in the winter months, building props, renovating dance spaces and dancing with the Elle Daddies for Elle Dance Academy in Timberlea.
Caitlin has been with rcs for almost 4 years working on a variety of projects at all different stages in the construction process; working from design right through to construction completion.
Caitlin grew up with a passion for renovations and construction working alongside her dad and found her way through the Architectural Engineering Technology program to turn her passion into her career. After graduation, Caitlin worked for the Department of National Defense as a client representative, which gives her the ability to see both sides of a construction partnership and allows for a unique perspective on how to satisfy client needs. Caitlin takes pride in her work, each individual project and the complexities that come along with each of them and always looks forward to seeing the finished product come together.
When not working at rcs, Caitlin she can be found cruising around on her dual sport motorcycle or spending time in Cape Breton with friends and family.
Chris started with rcs about 24 years ago and began as a Night Foreperson before taking on a Site Superintendent role. About 7 years ago he moved into the role that he currently sits in as a Project Manager.
As a Gold Seal Intern Site Superintendent and Carpenter with over 27 years’ construction experience, Chris brings a breadth of knowledge and a particular skillset to the table. He has successfully completed some of our most challenging and time-sensitive projects with glowing results. His attention to detail ensures most challenges get resolved before they occur.
As a valued member of the rcs team, Chris has worked on several multi-million-dollar projects for clients in the institutional, commercial, corporate and hospitality sectors all over Atlantic Canada. Chris works hard to ensure projects are run on time, organized, and professional, with the client as the top priority.
In his spare time you can find him on the golf course, but he willingly admits that he does not have any aspirations of joining the PGA tour in the near future… or ever.
Kyle is a graduate of the Civil Engineering Technology: Construction Management Program at NBCC Moncton.
Kyle began his career with rcs in 2015. With over 6 years experience in a project management role, he is skilled in managing base builds, renovations and fit-ups of varying size and complexity.
Kyle has always had a passion for new construction and development and focuses his goals on making sure that every project meets the clients schedule and all their needs while making sure that the project stays on budget. With a focus on Construction Management, Kyle makes sure he gets the right team of individuals onsite to ensure the highest standard is met when it comes to safety and quality construction.
When Kyle is not hard at work for rcs he can be found working hard at the gym, having a well-deserved casual drink, or both!
Valerie Penney is a graduate of Civil Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She started her construction career 17 years ago as an Estimator with a local General Contractor. From Estimating she moved into Project Management and has been excelling at both roles for the last 14 years, with a focus now on Project Management.
Valerie joined rcs in 2017 as a Project Manager. She fits in with our culture so well – Val seems like she’s been here since day 1. Valerie is known as a hard-working professional who takes a pragmatic approach to ensure projects get completed within budget and on schedule. Valerie maintains that client and supplier relationships are the most important factors in completing a successful project.
When not at the office you can find Valerie on the volleyball court whether it be playing or coaching after recently falling back in love with the sport after a nearly 20-year break from it.
Terrence works in our Newfoundland and Labrador office and is responsible for multiple concurrent projects. He has over 15 years of commercial, industrial and residential construction experience, starting from childhood in a family general contracting business.
He is a Certified Engineering Technologist with the Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists for Newfoundland and Labrador and has received Gold Seal Certification for General Contractor Project Manager.
Terrence is also a member of the Program advisory panel for the Civil Engineering Technology program at the College of the North Atlantic; this role helps shape the development of the program to help current and future students be more prepared when they enter the work force.
While outside of the office, Terrence enjoys spending time with his young children and studying various topics for an inevitable Jeopardy appearance in the future.
